can I use my HP 6100 for film/slides?

I have an older HP6100 SCSI scanner, which works great for scanning
photos etc, but now I am debating scanning and archiving my entire photo
library including slides and some 120 negatives.

Am I faced with getting a standalone film scanner or is there a way I
can scan the negatives and slides with the 6100? Some seraches show that
some flatbeds have film adaptors, but I could find nothing on the 6100
scanner.

You're in between.

For 35mm you're best off with dedicated film scanner.
However, the 120's would require $1700 film scanner model.
You can do a nice job on the 120's with one of Epson's flatbed models,
but the 35mm won't be up to snuff unless you are fairly uncritical.

Others will chime in, I'm sure.

I've scanned a lot of prints with my 6100c, and they come out good.
But scanning slides with the triangle shaped slide adapter is poor -
not enough resolution (600dpi) plus just some minor zooming in or
cropping/enlarging seems to show red and/or blue bordered edges -
either my ccd's or whatever are off or it's just the way it is with
this older model. So, I'll soon be getting a film scanner with IR
cleaning that can handle 35mm, aps and slides.
