Default canon s9000 grey scale problem

I have a canon s9000. Test prints show all the individual colors
print OK. When I print grey I get greenish-yellow. All new
cartridges. Same with alternate computer. Any thoughts?

S9000 has black ink cartridge. If it uses colors instead,
your gray is not really gray. I would suggest to verify the
image using any viewer capable of displaying color primitives.
Verify that the channels RGB are all precisely identical.

Try to convert an image to B/W using any image utility and
print it again. If this fails, something is wrong with the
printer!

You're not using the best paper for photos on that printer. You get
this effect when you set the print driver to a photo mode, with cheaper
papers. Get better paper, or use "plain paper" setting and manually
raise the resolution to the highest, and enable diffusion dither (that
will get the best out of that paper).

That's true, but it isn't. I had the same problem with an S520. Canon
told me they use the color cartridges to produce grey scales. You can
confirm this by magnifying the print. I also had a greenish cast using
top quality Canon photo paper. The solution seems to be to use one of
the black ink setups, like Pieziography, which is why I replaced the
S520 with an i9100.
