Default Printer cable

Hi! I own a laptop Compaq that don't have USB.
I got a new printer HP that have only USB cable and no place to put a serial
cable.

Is there such a thing as a cable that would be,
at one end (to printer) USB and a parallel port at the other(to computer)?

Thanks
Martin

your probably better off getting a PCMCIA or cardbus USB card for your
laptop.
that will give it the flexibility to connect a lot of USB devices, although
it will be more expensive.

They're available but not so easy to find. I saw one once but the price was
expensive.

The other suggestion you received is probably the better, long term
solution. It will also give you more flexibility to connect other devices to
your laptop.

The truth is out there. You just have to look in the right places and ask
the right questions.

That's the other way round he wants, which is impossible, unless there
is a specific adaptor for that printer that converts paralell to some
simpler format over the USB cable.

Or buy a printer that has paralell, if buying another printer is an
option.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I can't buy an other printer.
But I will check the USB adapter first.
