Presario 2100 Notebook Screen Does not work

Hello I have a Compaq Presario 2175US notebook and the display is not
showing up properly. I was wondering if you could tell me why the
display on the screen is very dark? I can see a little bit of my
screen but it is still dark. It was working properly and after i
turned it off for about 2 hours and then turned it back on and the
display is extreamly dark. I would really appreciate your responce to
this as quickly as poosible. Thank you for all your time.
