Hey everyone-
I am wanting to purchase the ATI 9800 XT video card for my AMD64 system I just built. I found a company on ebay (IVEX) who is selling an OEM verison of this card for around $120 - $160 dollars. Although they claim to sell refurbished equipment and their feedback is pretty good, they say this card is "Direct From OEM, Never been used" However, the heat sink and fan look radically different from the retail version. I am concerned that this is not the same card. Also, I don't want to put anything in my machine that might fry the MB. What is everyone's opinion on this? Does it look like a deal? Here's the photo they use: http://ivexllc.us/auctionpics/EbayP...on_9800_Pro.jpg Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Thanks in advance. The picture properties says that the card is a 9800 Pro. Maybe they're using the wrong picture for the model they're selling, or maybe they're not really selling a 9800 XT. Thanks in advance. The heat sink looks like the one that came on my 9800 Pro. They might be selling 9800 pros with the R360 chip, which with a BIOS mod do the same thing as OEM XTs (major difference between the Pro and the XT is that the original Pro had the R350 while the XT has the R360. ATI after a while quit producing the R350 and started putting the R360 in both. Or it could be an OEM XT with the older heatsink. I doubt that it's going to fry the motherboard. -- --John Reply to jclarke at ae tee tee global dot net (was jclarke at eye bee em dot net) |
