Default SYX.DLL error message

During install, I get this "fatal" error message:

SXS.DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy file
"D:\I386\asms\52\MSFT\WINDOWS\NET\DXMRTP\DXMRTP.MAN" on line 5.
***
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
***
One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be
installed.

I am at my wits end with this complicated install. HELP???

Thanks in advance.

"Manifest Parse Error" is indicative of a bad CD. Use the
original Windows XP installation CD. If you are using it,
then request a replacement.
