Default Why not my PC?

Hi, Sony advised me to try to capture video from my Sony DCRHC32 on a
different PC, which I did, and the result was first class, both video and
audio quality! So why it does not work on my PC (video with 1-2 sec gaps,
sound just a horrible noise in DV-AVI setting -other settings delivering
better results, but still not acceptable), when my PC is much faster and with
more free memory? The problem is not just with Movie Maker, but with other
movie editors as well, including Sony's own software. As my camera and the
fireware cable have been eliminated as possible troublemakers, it is now
obvious that something must be done with my PC, which is otherwise more than
good enough for the job. To re-install something? Any idea?Thank you for any
suggestions . . .

Could be a lot of different things.
Your computer may be faster and have more memory but what about a fragmented
HDD? Have you defragged lately?
Or possibly a bad firewire card (assuming your capturing with firewire).
Did you use the same firewire cable on the other PC?

Yes, I did use the same firewire cable and I also did defrag quite recently.
The firewire card is the original Packard Bell thing.

Well I have little to no faith in Packard Bell so my own biased opinion is
to buy a new firewire card since they aren't expensive.
