WMM on a network

I'm trying to enable students to work with Movie Maker files over a network.
I'm talking works in progress ... .MSWMM files, not the exported wmvs.

Currently, they have to remember which PC they've worked on, as each local
copy of WMM keeps its "Collections" data at ... \Documents and
Settings\USERACCOUNTNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Movie
Maker ... where the database file is called "Mediatab.dat" (This info is
from the HELP file).

Copying the .dat file to a network location actually requires all media be
copied to there to, and it's an unworkable solution in practice, as the .dat
file needs to be copied/pasted there on every new save.

Does anybody have experience of a network solution to this problem?
