Hosting general app within Outlook

Hi

We're currently trying to figure out what UI to use for an intranet
app.

The fuctionality doesn't relate to Outlook directly (ie doesn't use
Note, MailItem, Task, etc), but building the UI so that it was hosted
in Outlook could be beneficial from a user perspective since Outllok
is an 'anchor' for a lot of what our users do.

Our first thought was to use ASP.Net to build the front end to the Web
services we want to presnetand host this within IE. Using Outlook
would avoid the need to switch into IE.

Can anyone point me towards whichever bits of MSDN or other resources
might help me understand whether this is a daft idea, and if it isn't
what we might need to develop and how to do it (which COM interfaces,
development tools, etc.)? I'd also need to understand deployment
issues re our distributed Exchange architecture over the WAN.

Basic infrastructure is Exchange 2000 and Outlook 2000.
