Thanks for this but as I am not a techno person I do not understand:
> Your Exchange account is misconfigured. Your administrator needs to add > the account's SMTP email address to the account as a valid email > address. Otherwise your server thinks the Mac is trying to use it as a > relay server, which is often used by spammers. How do I configure this and who is the administrator i.e. is this administrator our ISP Freeserve or our email address provider nameplanet.com?! Thanks for your help as we are flummoxed by this and not being able to send emails a real pain in the neck! Thanks Thanks MW P.S. Please CC all replies directly to <mw_computerware@bigfoot.com> as well as posted here to Newsgroup as we will get emails first - Thanks. --------------------------------------------- > From: William Smith <mecklists@REMOVETHIS.mn.rr.com> > Newsgroups: microsoft.public.outlook.mac > Date: Thu, 08 Jul 2004 22:21:11 -0500 > Subject: Re: What does this message mean: 'not configured to relay mail to <> > for 10.1.50.1' ? > > In article <BD10ACF4.250E%mw_computerware@bigfoot.com>, > MW computerware <mw_computerware@bigfoot.com> wrote: > >> What does this message mean: >> >> 'This system is not configured to relay mail to <name.name@ISP.com> for >> 10.1.50.1' >> >> I can't send any messages to name.name@ISP.com at all! >> >> This happens when we send from 2 of our most-used email addresses. >> >> A nuisance! > > > Your Exchange account is misconfigured. HOW DO I MEND "Error: 5501"That answer is not correct - for starters, you don't use Exchange. <sigh>
>> 'This system is not configured to relay mail to <name.name@ISP.com> for >> 10.1.50.1' >> >> I can't send any messages to name.name@ISP.com at all! >> >> This happens when we send from 2 of our most-used email addresses. Do you have SMTP authentication enabled? The mail server at 10.1.50.1 is not configured as an open relay and you need to enter a username and password to send email. You don't say which version of outlook, so I can only give general directions on where to look - tools, accounts, open the account settings and look on the outgoing server tab for authentication settings. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Author, Google and Other Search Engines (Visual QuickStart Guide) Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Join OneNote Tips mailing list: http://www.onenote-tips.net/ Vote for your favorite Outlook and Exchange utilities in the Slipstick Ratings Raffle at http://www.slipstick.com/contest/ "MW misc" <mw_misc@bigfoot.com> wrote in message news:BD1F657E.2A55%mw_misc@bigfoot.com...
