Opening Excel Attachments in Outlook XP

Hi there,

I have a user who is having a problem opening Excel
attachments in Outlook XP messages. When she double-clicks
on the file, Excel will launch very slowly, the system will
freeze a bit, and then Excel will close without the file
opening. She also has trouble opening the file if saved to
the desktop, though she is more successful with that
message, though not by much.

I have disabled the Instant Messaging option in Outlook as
per KB article 290025, applied the latest hotfixes, cleared
the "Ignore other applications" option as per KB 290852 and
have done a clean reinstall.

Any ideas before I pull my hair out?
