I am aware about the scanpst.exe utility for repairing an inbox file ( pst ). However, there are times that the utility cannot repair all the index/problems in a file. This apply to file with size ( at least 60 Mb or higher i came across 975 Mb ). My question is that i would like to know if there's any other third party utility or programs which can resolve above problem ( irrespective of the size of the pst file ) and give FULL DETAIL audit trail for any correction made. Thank you. Salim |

I regularly have users with 2GB pst files and scanpst
does not work. I am dealing with one right now. Is there a utility I can use to split the file in half? Maybe I can get scanpst to work on files of a more reasonable size. >-----Original Message----- >Nothing available that I know of. I found that the corruption we were experiencing occurred
when we attempted to compact the file. To resolve, I created 3 PST files and copied folder/items from a working copy of the 2GB PST file (from the nightly backup) to the 3 other PST files. Then we deleted the 2GB file. I did this from Outlook 2002. A few times Outlook wouldn't respond for a few minutes but eventually came back with a message that the original PST was full. Once closing and restarting Outlook, I could continue until everything was copied. >-----Original Message----- >Hi - 2GB is the official limit, but most people have problems starting about >1.2 -1.5GB. The 2GB limit has been gotten rid of in Outlook 2003, for what >it's worth - but I would still recommend keeping PST files small - people >need to move older items out to other PST files.
