I tried adding the news category to the Go menu, but it ended up on the menu
bar when I released it. I restored the menu bar, but now the news commandis missing from the lcommands list accessed by Tools-->customize-->Commmands-->Go (category). I need to be able to access my news reader. |

Perhaps you could include your Outlook version so we can figure out what's
wrong. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Just Jack" <Just Jack@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5473F50E-F1B6-4094-9A1A-D793A144C2F7@microsoft.com... >I tried adding the news category to the Go menu, but it ended up on the >menu > bar when I released it. Sorry to not have mentioned it, I am using Office 2003, like the other reply
from B Sturdi. To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No button. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Just Jack" <JustJack@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4A1669D1-49A5-4F21-A5C4-BBD4F90103DC@microsoft.com... > Sorry to not have mentioned it, I am using Office 2003, like the other > reply > from B Sturdi. > > "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: > >> Perhaps you could include your Outlook version so we can figure out >> what's >> wrong. >> -- >> Russ Valentine >> [MVP-Outlook] >> "Just Jack" <Just Jack@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:5473F50E-F1B6-4094-9A1A-D793A144C2F7@microsoft.com... >> >I tried adding the news category to the Go menu, but it ended up on the >> >menu >> > bar when I released it. Am I missing something here??
I have Outlook 2003 I do not have Outlook express In your instructions I go to INTERNET OPTIONS | PROGRAMS and the only option I get is Outlook Express. The News button has disappeared and folowing your instructions nothing happens! Then you are not following the instructions at all.
You do have Outlook Express. It is part of your operating system. That is what I told you to select. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bernadette" <Bernadette@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6D968597-7111-467C-889C-4F19898790AB@microsoft.com... > Am I missing something here?? > I have Outlook 2003 I do not have Outlook express > In your instructions I go to INTERNET OPTIONS | PROGRAMS and the only > option > I get is Outlook Express. > The News button has disappeared and folowing your instructions nothing > happens! > Regards Bernadette > > "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: > >> To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control >> Panel | >> Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. >> If >> OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you >> launch >> it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No >> button. >> -- >> Russ Valentine >> [MVP-Outlook] >> "Just Jack" <JustJack@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:4A1669D1-49A5-4F21-A5C4-BBD4F90103DC@microsoft.com... >> > Sorry to not have mentioned it, I am using Office 2003, like the other >> > reply >> > from B Sturdi. >> > >> > "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: >> > >> >> Perhaps you could include your Outlook version so we can figure out >> >> what's >> >> wrong. >> >> -- >> >> Russ Valentine >> >> [MVP-Outlook] >> >> "Just Jack" <Just Jack@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> >> news:5473F50E-F1B6-4094-9A1A-D793A144C2F7@microsoft.com... >> >> >I tried adding the news category to the Go menu, but it ended up on >> >> >the >> >> >menu >> >> > bar when I released it. Hi Russ,
This post threw me off for minute but I figured it out... It's not Control Panel... it's Internet Explorer "Tools," "Internet Options," then you select the "Programs Tab" and change the Newsreader field to Outlook Express. If there is a way to use "Control Panel" I could'nt figure it out... Joe "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: > Then you are not following the instructions at all. > You do have Outlook Express. I posted the way.
Control Panel > Internet Options... is the exact same dialog you used. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "bluecrow16" <bluecrow16@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F2F85818-6735-45D1-A0BF-46242DB4B936@microsoft.com... > Hi Russ, > > This post threw me off for minute but I figured it out...
