Default How do I stop all email deleting upon closing?

Once I read my email and close the Outlook Program, the email which has been
read is deleted. I cannot find a setting to change to stop this. Is anyone
aware of a specific setting of configuration change which would stop this?

Thanks

Are you deleting the email after reading it?
