At my company personal folders are used for users to archive email when the
Exchange mailbox reaches its limit. The pst file is located on the user's home drive. The problem is that as this approaches 1 Gig it becomes slow and unweildly. Personal folders are not that user friendly to set up so technician need to do this for the user. There's also a high risk of corruption of the pst file. All in all it ends up as a high maintenance job! Anybody suggest a more efficient way of doing this? |

Rename the Archive.pst file periodically, and Outlook will create a new one.
Teaching users how to delete stuff they don't really need to keep might also be a good idea. If by "home drive" you mean a network volume, this is a bad idea, for the reasons you've already described. There are server-based archiving solutions that might serve your company better.
