First some information that might be of some importance achieving my
"ultimate" configuration for e-mail. - Windows XP Home with 2 user logins configured. - Outlook 2000. - ISP offering 1 pop e-mail login, with unlimited e-mail aliasses. - Not connected to network (so no exchange server available). Now the configuration I want to achieve : Windows User 1 profile : Outlook 2000 uses the only 1 pop login to collect e-mail for the following aliases : user1@systemname.demon.nl evertything else@systemname.demon.nl Windows User 2 profile : Outlook 2000 uses the only 1 pop login to collect e-mail for the following aliases : user2@systemname.demon.nl Now when this is achieved I want to be able to share my contacts folder between these 2 windows users, so the 2 users can add/delete/use the same contacts. Is there anyway I can achieve this or maybe someone can point me in the right direction ? Everything i did a google search on was not the exact configuration I want to achieve. Thanks for anyone who wants to help me. Regards, Jacques Herweijer |

Thanks for the detailed explanation of what you're trying to do. You'd be
surprised how many people posting here expect their messages to be read by clairvoyants. In your case, the two users would need to use a common a .pst file. See http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/olshare1.htm However, the email account configuration that you want can't be achieved in Outlook, because it knows nothing of aliases, only accounts. You would need a separate account for each user unless you want them to share all mail as well. -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx "Jacques Herweijer" <jahe__@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:Xns9480793DC58D2JAHE@194.134.2.2... > First some information that might be of some importance achieving my > "ultimate" configuration for e-mail. > - Windows XP Home with 2 user logins configured. > - Outlook 2000. > - ISP offering 1 pop e-mail login, with unlimited e-mail aliasses. > - Not connected to network (so no exchange server available). > > Now the configuration I want to achieve : > > Windows User 1 profile : > Outlook 2000 uses the only 1 pop login to collect e-mail for the > following aliases : > user1@systemname.demon.nl > evertything else@systemname.demon.nl > > Windows User 2 profile : > Outlook 2000 uses the only 1 pop login to collect e-mail for the > following aliases : > user2@systemname.demon.nl > > Now when this is achieved I want to be able to share my contacts folder > between these 2 windows users, > so the 2 users can add/delete/use the same contacts. > > Is there anyway I can achieve this or maybe someone can point me in the > right direction ? > Everything i did a google search on was not the exact configuration I > want to achieve. > > Thanks for anyone who wants to help me. > > Regards, > Jacques Herweijer |

First, thank you for your quick response,
I am a software developer so explaining what I want to achieve is not a problem to me. I would like to know if there is another possibility to achief this, maybe by installing a sort of exchange server / STMP server on my desktop pc that distributes the different e-mails form different aliases to my different user .pst's. Or isn't it possible to configure a sort of All users .pst that distibutes to the user specific .pst based on the alias it is received on (filtering rules ?). Possibly you know some other software than Outlook to achieve this. Thank you very much, Jacques Herweijer > Subject: Re: Outlook 2000 with multiple windows users configuration - > Please help From: "Sue Mosher [MVP]" <suemvp@outlookcode.com> > Newsgroups: microsoft.public.outlook.installation > > Thanks for the detailed explanation of what you're trying to do. The problem with trying to filter on aliases is that such filters may not
work well when the user is receiving mail as a Bcc or as a member of a distribution list. I don't have the resources to keep up with non-Outlook mailers or POP/SMTP servers, so I can't address the issue of alternatives. -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx "Jacques Herweijer" <jahe__@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:Xns94808B231A6D2JAHE@194.134.2.2... > First, thank you for your quick response, > > I am a software developer so explaining what I want to achieve is not a > problem to me. > > I would like to know if there is another possibility to achief this, > maybe by installing a sort of exchange server / STMP server on my desktop > pc that distributes the different e-mails form different aliases to my > different user .pst's. > > Or isn't it possible to configure a sort of All users .pst that > distibutes to the user specific .pst based on the alias it is received on > (filtering rules ?). > > Possibly you know some other software than Outlook to achieve this. > > Thank you very much, > Jacques Herweijer > > > > Subject: Re: Outlook 2000 with multiple windows users configuration - > > Please help From: "Sue Mosher [MVP]" <suemvp@outlookcode.com> > > Newsgroups: microsoft.public.outlook.installation > > > > Thanks for the detailed explanation of what you're trying to do.
