Default lost Outlook Express messages

Just upgraded Win 98 to Win 2000 professional, with
Outlook Express 5 (not sure what version outlook express
was on Windows 98). When it was finished I couldn't access
any of my previous email messages.

I have found the previous inbox in c:\\Windows\Application
data\Identities\{hex string}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express. I tried to follow the KB advice to move this back
into the current Outlook Express inbox. When I
checked "properties" for the current inbox, it said its
location was C:\Documents and Settings\Don Johnson\Local
Settings\Application Data\Identities\{Hex string}
\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Inbox.dbx
However, with windows explorer, I can't find "Local
Settings" under the C:\Documents and Settings\Don
Johnson\. Is this file hidden somehow? So I can't move
the old file nto the new one.

Then I tried to do an import from the old folder from
Outlook
Express, but got an error message "No messages found in
this folder or another application is running that has the
folder open"

What else can I do? It's important that I reclaim those
mail messages.

Ask in an Outlook Express forum. This is an Microsoft Office Outlook forum.

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
family.

Here is the link for the right forum
http://communities.microsoft.com/ne...nternetExplorer

Good Luck!
