I want to create a brand new pst file. To this end I
proceded as follows: 1) removed old pst from default directory 2) uninstalled / rebooted / re-installed Outlook 3) when asked, gave new pst file new name in the old default directory When I open my new Outlook, expect a vergin file - yet it contains an address book which I do not want. Why? how zo obtain a pst without any entries? Many thanks. |

Go to mail applet in control panel and make a new profile.
Step 2 was unnecessary - the information is stored in the registry which is not deleted in an uninstall. Step 3 only replaces the pst - it does not change the address book settings. You can delete the old address lists using Address book's tools, options if you don't want to create a new profile. -- "Henry" <comp@sinniger.com> wrote in message news:028a01c37884$8bb1d710$a101280a@phx.gbl... > I want to create a brand new pst file. Many thanks indeed!
Make new profile: does it mean I have to re-input my many email accounts - a tedious affair. A.B. Tools: when I do this, they bounce right back - there seems no way I can get rid of them. They follow me like ghosts. Appreciate your giving me your time - thanks. >-----Original Message----- >Go to mail applet in control panel and make a new profile. >Step 2 was unnecessary - the information is stored in the registry which is >not deleted in an uninstall. >Step 3 only replaces the pst - it does not change the address book settings. >You can delete the old address lists using Address book's tools, options if >you don't want to create a new profile. > >-- > >"Henry" <comp@sinniger.com> wrote in message >news:028a01c37884$8bb1d710$a101280a@phx.gbl... >> I want to create a brand new pst file. Many thanks for your feedback.
Outlook 2002 When I opened what I thought was a brand-new pst, I find my old contac folders under OL/Tools/AB/Tools/Options /Addresses I would not have expected any entries there. Thanks for your help - greatly appreciated. Henry >-----Original Message----- >Outlook version? Are there any entries in that address list?
You may want to remove the Outlook Address Book service then add it back in. Or just start over with a new profile. Thank you very much.
I managed to get an almost "healthy" new pst together. One problem remains: under OL ¦ Tools¦AB¦Tools¦Options Show this AB first and Keep Personal Address in.. 2 Contacts entries show up, one is empty and one contains my data. How do I get rid of the unwanted Contacts? Many thanks! >-----Original Message----- >Are there any entries in that address list? > >You may want to remove the Outlook Address Book service then add it back in. Sue - one more problems remains: the spell-checker is
looking for a dictionary. I would like to point to my hjs.dic but cannot find where this can be done. Check Tools | Options | Spelling to see if you can point to a custom dictionary.

The easiest solution probably is to remove the Outlook Address Book and add it back.
