Hi. I just switched from dial-up to Comcast cable. When I
had a dial-up connection, I had been using Outlook Express to access my email, but since switching to cable, Outlook Express has not been able to serve my needs. Part of the problem is that I need my email address to remain personalized (rainey@fivelakesdesign.com)to match my website (www.fivelakesdesign.com), rather than simply using a Comcast email address (eg: kristen@comcast.net). I have been advised to try using OUtlook instead, as Outlook suuposedly would allow me to use my personalized email address. I have adjusted all the configuration settings for OUtlook, but now I am finding that I can SEND from Outlook, but I cannot receive emails. So now I am using Outlook Express to receive emails, and Outlook to send. Ridiculous. I tried calling COmcast, but they say they are not authorized to help with Outlook. Microsoft says I need to call Dell. Dell tells me this is not their problem. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

I have the same problem with one computer that I upgraded
from OE6 to Outlook 2002 (running on W98). I did this on three other machines in the office with no problem; just this one computer will only receive messages in Outlook. There has to be a setting in the Registry, but I sure can't find it .... did you guys get any answers? >-----Original Message----- >I just bought Office XP and am having similar problems! My POP3 email Sends >and Recieves no problem, as does the Send with my MSN Mail, But for the life >of me, I cannot gt it to Recieve. The settings are exactly the same as they >are with Outlook Express (I already tried alternating between "hotmail" and >"msn" in my http settings.). Another issue I'm having with Outlook is that >it wants to go into Offline Mode whenever I'm already connected to the >Internet. Seems silly that I must log onto the 'Net via Outlook.
