Outlook 2000 Freezes - Need Help - cannot access my files

I have used Outlook 2000 for some time without a problem.
A few days ago I downloaded Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
and also installed an HP scanner on the same day.
Following that, I was no longer able to open outlook (I
get the message that outlook.exe has generated an error,
etc.) and it freezes. I started it in the safe mode
(outlook.exe /safe) but still was not able to make it
work. I uninstalled it and installed it several times. I
even uninstalled and installed back the entire microsoft
office suite (SR1) - still no help.
Please advise. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
