Improper Shutdown with Outlook 2002 (Office XP Pro)

Outlook fails to stay closed upon closing the program.
Outlook reopens automatically, providing an error message,
providing a dialogue box for sending an error message to
Microsoft. Outlook can then be closed normally and will
remain closed.
I vaguely remember a report of this error sometime in the
recent past, but cannot find it now.
