ItemChange event for ContactItems

Hi

I have a question regarding the ItemChange event in Outlook.
I have added a event handler to this event for items in a contact item folder.
It seems that the first time I open a newly created contact (after it was saved and closed when it was created) it instantly fires the itemchange event, even though I just opened the contact item (I have not even tried to save it).
The next time I open the contact the event does not fire when I open the contact, only when I save it

Is there anyone else who has encountered this, and could explain why this is, and if there is some kind of workaround for this
