what is the best way to access all outlook folders to find matching criterias in emails

Hi all

i am using VB6 and connecting to outlook 2003. need to find if an email
i got a reply to a specific email sent by me.

i thought i should scatter across all emails folders and see if i got an
email sent by that contact with sent date > my email sent date.

P.S: emails are not deleted so the database might be huge.

i was wondering if there is a way to access outlook as a database and
run a select instead of accessing outlook email items wich is slow i
guess.

i am ready to use any connection possible. i am using access database
and VB6 and DAO 3.6 , will use ADO if it helps.
