Outlook Add-In

Hi
I am new to Outlook Programming or any other kind of Windows programming.
Originally I come from the Embedded Software area .
I want to write an Add-In to microsoft Outlook that will display
data collected from a simple server .
I have started browsing Into the HUGE material In order to find out the
most adequest tools acheiving this without becoming a professional
Windows programmer.

Can someone give me a few tips that will make my life a bit easier.
