To access a shared folder that isn't one of the folders listed on the File |
Open | Other User's Folder dialog, the mailbox owner needs to grant Reviewer permission to the root of the mailbox, as well as appropriate permission on the folder. The user who needs access then goes into Tools | E-mail Accounts or Tools | Services (depending on the Outlook version), brings up the properties for the Exchange Server service, and on the Advanced tab, adds the mailbox. So we're saying that if Larry creates a secondary calendar & wishes to share
it with Curly, Larry's PRIMARY calendar has to be shared? Does the sharing permission of the secondary calendar have to be 'equal to or less than' the permissions of the primary calendar? -- "Goody-goodies are the thieves of virtue" ~ Confucius "Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: > To access a shared folder that isn't one of the folders listed on the File | > Open | Other User's Folder dialog, the mailbox owner needs to grant Reviewer > permission to the root of the mailbox, as well as appropriate permission on > the folder. > > The user who needs access then goes into Tools | E-mail Accounts or Tools | > Services (depending on the Outlook version), brings up the properties for > the Exchange Server service, and on the Advanced tab, adds the mailbox. > > For more information on folder permissions, with how-to screen shots, see > http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/permissions.htm and > http://office.microsoft.com/assista...=HA011134811033 > > > -- > Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP > Author of > Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for > Administrators, Power Users, and Developers > http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx > > > "Cerj" <Cerj@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:0272166D-8A0E-4A0E-B863-2118749F381A@microsoft.com... > >I Know how to connect to anther user's default calendar, but I want to > > connect to an alternative calendar! Thank you for the tip, but:
Granting Reviewer permission to the root to a big team, and having to explain to each person to change the Exchange service properties, is too intrusive. All I want to do is share an alternate (non default) calendar! Isn't there another, less intrusive way? Or should I just forget about it? No, there is no other way.
Maybe you should be sharing a folder in the Public Folders hierarchy instead? -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.turtleflock.com/olconfig/index.htm and Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx "Pablo" <Pablo@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:BC0DBBC7-C964-4291-83C4-255466349451@microsoft.com... > Thank you for the tip, but: > Granting Reviewer permission to the root to a big team, and having to > explain to each person to change the Exchange service properties, is too > intrusive. > All I want to do is share an alternate (non default) calendar! > Isn't there another, less intrusive way? Hi-
I tried to create the calendar in the public folders and I got this message: "Unable to create the folder. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object. See the folder contact or your system administrator." Should I ask my Sys Admin? I looks like there is not a lot of content within the Public Folders, I am starting to think that my request will be rejected when I ask for permission.... my Sys Admin is not very open to creative requests... if you know what I mean. Yes, you need to ask the Exchange administrator if there is a place in the Public Folders hierarchy where you can create a folder to share.
