Lost notes after undeleting a recurring appointment

I'm trying to help someone who deleted a recurring appointment. She had
only wanted to delete the occurences going forward, not the old
appointments. The whole series was deleted. I went in the deleted items
and used the "move to folder" feature to move the item back to the calendar,
which resulted in the occurence of the old appointments being restored, but
not the notes.

Is there a way to have done this that would have restored the notes? Is
there anything I can still do?
