Default iCalendar MAPI rendering incorrectly

Having issues with the receipt rendering of icalendar appointments vi
all versions of outlook in a MAPI confugraion. An inbound iCal messag
is sent to us. If pulled through POP3 or IMAP, the message will b
formatted properly, with accept/decline, etc. However, viewing th
exact same message, via the same outlook client(s) via MAPI renders i
incorrectly.

When viewed through MAPI, the item is rendered as a standard message
with an embedded message attachment. Opening this attached message
renders as a calendar item, withthe accept/decline options greyed out.
You can then drag it into the inbox, which allows accept/decline to b
used, but of course the action of doing this will remove received time
etc. as well as just generally being a horrid, ugly, not-very-usefu
workaround.

This has been tested via E2K/2003, and OL2000/XP/2003, in varyin
configurations. Behaviour is effectively identical between al
configs. Also, a quick test through OWA also renders as norma
message, which is really expected given OWA's connection to store i
effectivley MAPI as well.

Finding very little relating to ical, etc. in KB's, MS premier support
and varying net searches, and what little articles are there, tend t
focus more on the sending, vs. the receiving.

In this specific issue, we're attemtping to inter-ioperate a Lotu
Domino 6.5 envornment with E2K/2003 with basic calendaring over SMT
via ical. We've got the Exchange -> Lotus working fine, but note vic
versa.

Exchange - Exchange of course seems to work fine. The fact that th
system presents it properly via POP3/IMAP also would *seem* to negat
the fact that the Lotus side is doing something different when sendin
the ical message.

Any help would be appreciated.
