Collaborating - public cal as mailbox cal

How can I set a company public calendar as users default
calendar, mainly to facillitate all users to get the
reminders?

Can a public contacts folder be set up as all the users'
default cardex?

If not, can they be synchronized or automatically updated
with any changes or additions/deletions.
