The setup - WinNT server, Exchange 5.5 and Outlook 98 Clients.
I created a public folder ("bug reports" based on Task items) and a custom form (based on the Task again). One client set up a new computer (XP Pro) and noticed that his bug reports were opening with the normal "Task" form, not the custom. This person and myself are "owners" of the public folder. He at some point must have deleted the custom form association with that folder. We restored that, and now new records will open and be created with the custom form, but the old records still open with the "Task" form on his system On my system, the old records open ok (with the custom form). Whats up? I thought maybe the record has a form associated with it, but if another client has no problem, then it must be something on the clients computer? Thanks... Len |

Where is the form published? What do the old records show for their Message

Sue
I think I got it. After the custom form was deleted off the server, it was put back on with a slightly different name. The form with the original name was on my machine, but not the other guy's. Apparently a record created with xyz form will want to open with xyz form. If xyz form doesn't exist at the server or the client, it defaults to the base form (tasks in this case) and not some other custom form assigned to that folder? That's exactly how it works. You can either republish the form using the
original name or convert the existing items to use the new name. See http://www.outlookcode.com/d/newdefaultform.htm#convert for several tools and scripts to do the conversion. -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx "Len Kamholz" <lenk@helmel.com> wrote in message news:0aqdnXBeQoCQyA_dRVn-ug@adelphia.com... > Sue > > I think I got it.
