Default Custom Field for serial num

Hello

I need to create a field for a custom contact form that will automatically assign the next number in a sequence when a new contact is saved. I need the user to be able to override the value if necessary (i.e. if they are entering a name that has previously been assigned a number). I am using Outlook 2002. Any comments would be appreciated

Thanks
