Default VBE Closes Excel unexpectedly

I'm running Excel 2003 on Windows 2000 Professional. Every time I try to
run VBE from Excel, it closes Excel out, with no errors or messages. If I
start Excel up in safe mode, VBE runs fine. I've got nothing in XLSTART
and no addins are running. I ran "detect and repair" to no avail. Anyone
out there know what this is?

I had a very similar problem, and it turned out to be a problem
with the video drivers. Have you updated your video drivers
lately?
