Okay, this has me baffled. If I open up excel and do a File | Open and then
select the spreadsheet I want to open, it opens in a split second. However, if Excel is not open, and I double click a spreadsheet on my desktop, it takes an EXTREMELY long time for the spreadsheet to open. If it took 5 or 10 second to open, I could deal with it, but it literally takes 3-4 minutes to open a spreadsheet. Originally, I thought it was a network issue since I was trying to open documents out on a network drive, but I tried the same thing with files on my local machine with the same problem. I am running Windows XP and Office XP. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian |

A couple of possibilities 1) Tools>Options...>General - Uncheck 'Ignore other applications' 2) Try temporarily disabling you AV software 3) Try looking for a file called Excel.xlb (it may be hidden) and move it from it's location. If you are now ok you will have lost your toolbar customisations, but XL will have created a new file for that feature 4) Try unchecking all add-ins (Tools>Add-ins...) and add them back one at a time to see if that helps Just a few things -- HTH Nick Hodge Microsoft MVP - Excel Southampton, England nick_hodgeTAKETHISOUT@zen.co.uk.ANDTHIS "Brian" <Brian@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7D865B0A-25AC-4EBF-A136-37B8BDC0C6DB@microsoft.com... > Okay, this has me baffled.
