I'm currently running Windows XP sp2 on a brand new computer. I installed
Office2000 Small Business. Excel was acting strangely - if I clicked on a cell, I was completely unable to click anywhere else. I could not deselect it. Moving the cursor around just selected everything that it scrolled over. I could not quit except by bringing up the Windows Task Manager and ending it from there. This occured both when opening the program to a blank spreadsheet or opening it from a saved spreadsheet (even ones that worked perfectly well on my old computer). I downloaded all the updates from Microsoft that I could find, restarted, and the problem persists. |

Try re-installing the drivers for your wheel mouse

I re-installed the drivers, and that didn't work either.

Try tapping the wheel a few times. If this doesn't work try a plain mouse
and see if the problem goes away. In all reported cases I've seen it's tracked back to the wheel mouse -- HTH Nick Hodge Microsoft MVP - Excel Southampton, England nick_hodgeTAKETHISOUT@zen.co.uk.ANDTHIS "ghostfire" <ghostfire@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:924DD294-456C-4849-9773-E691E1324B1A@microsoft.com... >I re-installed the drivers, and that didn't work either. > > "Nick Hodge" wrote: > >> Try re-installing the drivers for your wheel mouse >> >> -- >> HTH >> Nick Hodge >> Microsoft MVP - Excel >> Southampton, England >> nick_hodgeTAKETHISOUT@zen.co.uk.ANDTHIS >> >> >> "ghostfire" <ghostfire@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:B86E006F-5B97-47EF-A0C6-DF7CA80D07B8@microsoft.com... >> > I'm currently running Windows XP sp2 on a brand new computer.
