When Excel.exe is launched, all Excel files that are stored on the Hard Disk
are opened (one after the other) - I have about 110 files all being opened within a couple of minutes. Something must be triggering this to happen but I cannot think what. Anyone else have an idea ? How can I revert to my Excel programme opening normally ? Many thanks... |

You can start Excel normally by either holding down the SHIFT key
when starting Excel, or going to the Windows Start menu, choose Run, and enter Excel.exe /safe Then, once you're in Excel, go to the Tools menu, choose Options, then the General tab. There, ensure that the "Alternate Startup Directory" box is empty. -- Cordially, Chip Pearson Microsoft MVP - Excel Pearson Software Consulting, LLC www.cpearson.com "ersking" <ersking@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:93342601-9414-4A4B-97BB-69EB15A7EAFC@microsoft.com... > When Excel.exe is launched, all Excel files that are stored on > the Hard Disk > are opened (one after the other) - I have about 110 files all > being opened > within a couple of minutes. I hasten to add that I HAVE read and tried the remedies without any success,
given in the previous posts/answers given by : Tools - Options - Default file location ------------------------------------------ Hargrove/Rob Bovey 8/3/2004 and multiple excel sheets keep opening up ------------------------------------------- Greg/Rob Bovey 9/1/2004 Greg/Pete 9/1/2004 Greg/Nick Hodge 9/1/2004 "ersking" wrote: > When Excel.exe is launched, all Excel files that are stored on the Hard Disk > are opened (one after the other) - I have about 110 files all being opened > within a couple of minutes. Thanks for the reply !
see my additional comment on this thread .... When SHIFT + Excel.exe is launched same problem Have opened Excel with "Excel.exe /safe" and see that the "Alternate Startup Directory" box was empty anyway... so that was not causing it. I am still baffled by the multiple excel documents opening... at the moment i am having to use "Excel.exe /safe" - can I make a short-cut for this until I find a solution ? Many thanks again...
