After save file can't open again

In Excel 2000

I have a file that is open when I save it to another name
(Just a nimber tacked onto the end of current name)

I cant open this new file, no error msg, just does not
appear. It is not Hidden (Worksheet Hide)

I can open the original file, but even if I dont save this
file then is unable to open.
