Reward offered: Excel quits when scrolling

Yesterday's posted question now has a reward for a helpful
answer - $10 Amazon gift certificate. Here is the post
again.

It's a big workbook, about 3mb. I offloaded half the data
into another file, but the problem is happening in both. I
downloaded the various patches, but it's still happening.
While scrolling in a worksheet, Excel quits. No hang, no
error messages, no nothing. It's just over.

How much RAM is in the computer?
