Default Excel closes during scrolling

It's a big workbook, about 3mb. I offloaded half the data
into another file, but the problem is happening in both. I
downloaded the various patches, but it's still happening.
While scrolling in a worksheet, Excel quits. No hang, no
error messages, no nothing. It's just over.

My brain hurts...

Is there any VB code behind it? Or is it querying
anything, or is it just a straight Excel Worksheet?

Christian, bless you for responding. The only things
happening are regular statistical functions - means,
modes, medians, stdevs, and =frequency, with one or two IF
statements. I have reinstalled Office 97 (I know...) to no
avail.

Have you tried to recopy the excel file into a new
workbook, and see if the scrolling mechanism still
shutsdown. Sometimes excel is fidgety and quirky, so it
might be something with your workbook file.
