Hi,
I am unable to connect to a Windows XP with SP2 client to run a Resultant Set of Policies from Group Policy Management Console. I am aware that the Windows Firewall automatically blocks port 135 (and any other port for that matter), so I have switched off the firewall in my Default Domain Policy. It also appears as such on the Windows XP machine (greyed out and switched to Off). Still, when I run RSoP from the GPMC, I get an error stating "The RPC server is unavailable." When I do the same to a non-SP2 machine, I have no problems. How can this still happen even if they Windows Firewall is switched off? I even tried to use an exception on port 135 and the program unsecapp.exe. And I have tried switching on the "Allow remote administration" exception. Both did not make any difference. They show up in the Exceptions tab on the computer, but I am still unable to make a connection. I'm pretty much stuck with this one, so if anyone has an idea about this one, please let me know. Cheers, Dela. |
