Fill colour on charts between 2 values

We have a requrement for a line chart that shows a maximum, minimum
and average value plotted across a period of time. For this
particular chart we need to fill the area between the maximum and
minumum values with a solid colour to help the variation between the
two to really stand out. In other words, there would be a thick band
of colour across the chart showing the variance between the maximum
and minimum. The average will stay as a normal line, but the
difference between the max and min definitely needs to be defined by
colour.

I've looked at all the different chart types and searched the groups
for a way to do this but can't see any straightforward way. I've
played with the Area charts as well as the line charts to try and do
this but with no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Brendan,

Add two data new series to your line chart.
One with the minimum value the other with the difference between maximum
and minimum.
Change both of these to the secondary axis.
Change the chart types to stacked column.
Remove the secondary values axis and add the secondary category axis.
Use the chart options dialog to do this.
Format the bottom part to have no border or fill.
Set the gap width to zero.

You should now have a band across your line chart.
