Default Help with Data (Table) below my chart

I have read about the Data Table problems in Charts, and don't see my
problem addressed.

I have twelve months of data in a combination Column/Line Chart.
Underneath each column, I want the data to show. The ONLY problem
with the Excel generated Data Table was that the Legend text was
vertically centered, and the data itself was Top Justified, looking
ridiculous. I found no way to correct that problem.

Based on previous answers I see here, I have tried to use an embedded
chart and just copy my data underneath. The problem I'm encountering
now is that I can't get the data to line up under each month. As I
try to adjust the width of the columns underneath the chart, my chart
keeps re-sizing.

I have seen the answer, "Just copy your data under the chart and
format it however you wish.", but I'm not getting anywhere with this.
Any help will be gratefully received.

Excel Data Tables for charts are almost worthless. Displaying your data in
cells is a better option. To prevent the chart from resizing when you modify
the column widths...

1. Ctrl+Click your chart
2. Right-click the chart
3. Select Format Object from the shortcut menu
4. In the Format Object dialog, click the Properties tab
5. Select the 'Don't move or size with cells' option

Sharon -

It's nearly impossible to align the data in the worksheet with the
plotted points, but at least they can be in the same relative positions.
I've always put up with this (minor) misalignment, because the
inability to control in-chart data tables is much more frustrating. The
precise alignment is only window dressing anyway, isn't it?
