It sounds as though the data are being imported as text, instead of
numbers. To convert them to numbers: 1. Select an empty cell on the worksheet 2. Choose Edit>Copy 3. Select cells A1:A7 4. Choose Edit>Paste Special 5. Select Add, click OK afdmello wrote: > I imported data from Business objects to Excel . A way to do this in place is to place a 1 in a presently empty unformatted
cell and then copy / paste special multiply against the area with values that are imported as text. -- Chris Nicholas, MCSE "A man may fail many times, but he isn't a failure until he begins to blame someone else." --Knox Manning "Debra Dalgleish" <dsd@contextures.com> wrote in message news:3F0721CE.30407@contextures.com... > Correction to Step 3: > > 1. Chris -
Did you try Debra's technique? It does Paste Special - Add, but does not require entering a '1' into a cell somewhere, since a blank cell is interpreted as zero. And you can also check the Values option in the top part of the Paste Special dialog to prevent applying unwanted formats. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP http://www.geocities.com/jonpeltier/Excel/index.html _______ Chris Nicholas wrote: > A way to do this in place is to place a 1 in a presently empty unformatted > cell and then copy / paste special multiply against the area with values > that are imported as text. > |
