Default Unable to read file

I received a file that is password protected. I opened the file and entered the supplied password an error message appears "Unable to read file"

Any guidance to resolve this issue is deeply appreciated. Thank you

The file could be corrupt. Ask the sender to resend the
same file. But before doing so, make sure the sender is
able to open it from his/her end. If he/she is able to
open it, then you should be able to open it too (assuming
both of you have the same version excel)
