I'd think that one could copy and paste, too - save a little typing.

Better yet, read news articles in a plain-text news reader that
generates its own links from the text.

Goodness knows there are so many unsophisticated Windows users with plain text
news readers. And OE being unable to render HTML postings as plain text or
provide different security settings for previewing postings as opposed to
opening them has had absolutely nothing to do with the rapid spread of these
viruses. And the Tooth Fairy will be substituting for Santa this Xmas.
