Default Jpeg security threat

I understand there's a patch to fix this threat on XP and
related microsoft programs, however when I use windows
update I no longer get a list of updates from which I can
choose which ones to install. I get a single message
asking me if I want to install the security update from
8/3/2004, which I presume is sp2, which I don't want to
install. I have a very effective firewall already set up
and I don't wish to muck about for days trying get the
microsoft firewall compatable with my needs. However,
when I decline to install it the update process does not
continue. Is there anyway to bypass installing sp2 and
get the list of updates from which I can choose - or is
there a way to access only the fix for the jpeg
vulnerability?

Sure, go to:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en
and download the microsoft SP2 blocker tool and open the word document
labeled; "Blocking delivery of Windows XP SP2 - sample email.doc". Once
opened just follow the instructions.

------QUOTE: MICROSOFT-----------
Please note that the mechanism to temporarily disable delivery of Windows XP
SP2 will be available for a period of 240 days from August 16. At the end of
this period, Windows XP SP2 will be delivered to all Windows XP and Windows
XP Service Pack 1 systems.
