Going bananas over here.
I just upgraded with the Sp2 package and now I cannot right click on anything in explorer (if I want to delete a file for example) without having it hang and an error message pops up: Drwtsn32.exe has encountered a problem and must shut down. I get it to shut down but I have to go to task manager to shut down explorer and get back to a working desktop. My computer is in French, could this cause a problem? Has anybody else had this problem and how do I get back to the comfort of deleting files the easy way? Thanks a Million -- Up, Up and Away!! |

Tes Ge
I solved this same problem recently. Immediately after installing Service Pack 2, my Windows Explorer could no longer display context menus and would crash whenever I attempted to do so. This would often take out the primary instance of explorer.exe that provides the taskbar. Only by calling up Task Manager, killing all instances of explorer.exe and then running explorer.exe again could partial recovery be achieved. Even then, the task bar came up without some of my add-ons, the Quick Launch toolbar and the full array of icons. After much puzzlement, I concluded that some of the programs that use the context menu are apparently incompatible with SP2. I had installed Context ThumbView and Instant ThumbView from Context Magic. Both programs attach themselves to the context menu. Uninstalling these programs solved the problem. Context Magic acknowledges the problem and says the latest versions fix it but I have not yet installed them so I can’t say for sure. I hope this helps.
