Icons revert back to default style

I've tried to change the icons for the Recycle Bin and My
Computer using Display Properties--> Customize Desktop-->
Icons. I have a folder with all my preferite ico's and
have changed several with no problems. The Recycle Bin
and My Computer revert back to the default Windows OS
icon on reboot and sometimes on refresh of desktop. Is
there a file corrupted or some option that resets these 2
icons ?
