Default File and Folder Encryption

I am running XP home with NTFS file system and I can't
figure out how to encrypt files or folders. I right
click the folder choose properties then click the
advanced button, the "Encrypt contents to secure data"
box is greyed out. I can't check it. Do I have to turn
something on first? Thanks

Hi Michael,

you can't use EFS (Encrypted File System) on Windows XP Home edition. It is
only supported on Windows XP Professional.

EFS is not supported in XP Home. Upgrade to Pro.
