Is it possible to save my desktop, just as I have it displayed?
When I change the display resolution, the icons at the bottom move out of place, and when the machine insists on SAFEMODE (usually an omen for a bad day to come), all the icons (there are about 50) shift to the top left corner of the screen in no logical order (or maybe alphabetical, which is almost as useless). I know that I can save the icons themselves from the DESTOP folder, but where does the machine remember the location of each icon on the screen? GSC |

When I have to start safe mode I just use another account. You might try
fiddling around with shelliconcache. -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. The only way I know to preserve icon locations when
display resolution is lowered is to not use the lower portion of the screen for icon placement. If icons are not scrolled off the bottom when resolution is reduced, they will not be automatically rearranged. How to "fiddle"?
I copied the file onto the desktop. Perchance, if the desktop config changes, I can splice the saved copy back to where it came from . . . ? Would I need to do this from a command prompt, else WIN will overwrite it with the config I don't want? What else is possible? Easiest to logon as another user when changing resolution.

Hi, GSCheyenne
The best way - Enterra Icon Keeper Deluxe. The Deluxe-version release of a well known Enterra Icon Keeper utility has been awarded by "Editor's Choice" and "Five Stars" from various software catalogs. There are reasons for this. More at http://www.enterra-soft.com/product...uxe/index.shtml |
