Help in trying to apply a group policy to home computer.

Hopefully this is the correct news group for this question, if not I
apologize.

I was wondering if I can apply a group policy to a group on a single
computer that's not using active directory (AD) and not in a domain. I want
to prevent my kids from doing things that I can set up in the group policy
editor. But when I do this it gets applied to all users on the computer. I
was wanting to create a new group and add the kids user accounts to that
group and apply the policy to only that account and not every user on the
computer.

I am running XP pro. I have set up the policy by just running gpedit.msc
from the run command. Can I load some AD tool, or add some new keys into
the registry that will allow me to do this, is it even possible ???. If
anyone knows and understands what I am trying to do, I would appreciate any
help.

Hi,

you can only set up Group Policy in AD environment. Some of local policies
set by e.g. gpedit.msc can also be set for only few users (or group), but
this depends on settings that you are trying to force on your PC...

(307882) - Describes how to use the Group Policy Editor to change policy
settings in Windows XP.

This tool will make things a lot easyer and it's very inexpensive for home
use.
