I am receiving a Windows File Protection error when trying
to install a piece of software at a clients location. The following error occurs: File replacement was attempted on the protected system file c:\winnt\system32\regsvr32.exe The file was restored to origianl version to maintain system stability. This is a corporate network but the system admin claims he does not have any group policies set and we are logged in locally as the administrator. Thanks for help in advance. Mark |

It's not Group Policies. It is WFP (and SFC.EXE) protecting the OS from the application's attempt to replace a critical OS file. Almost always a No No. App. vendor should be contacted for explanation. Also check the SP level of the target system. It could be out of date (SP0 or other) |
